What is the state with the most Medal of Honor recipients?

A substitute I had in AP World History told me that Colorado had the most Medal of Honor recipients, but I was just wondering if that's true and if it is, a link to some sort of evidence that it's true.What is the state with the most Medal of Honor recipients?
I thought it was North Carolina, i could be wrong

That's complete BS. Colorado has 24 Medal of Honer reipients. New York has the most with 668 followed by Pennsylvania, California, and Texas.

According to this site it is New York with 663

Keep in mind the Medal was created in 1861 and the qualifications for the Medal were not as strict as they are now. Hence the large numbers from states that provided large number of troops to the Union

New York BY FAR! They have almost double the next largest numbered state! 663 recipients from NY.
